Welcome to Matthes Tree Farm – where we’re not just about selling trees, we’re all about providing a full Christmas experience for the whole family to enjoy in Ida, Michigan. At our tree farm, we offer multiple family-fun activities, including hayrides, full concessions, a petting zoo, and much more!
We’ve got so much more to offer to make sure your visit is as memorable as possible. From our hayrides, to our cozy fire pit area where you can sit back and enjoy the ambience of the farm, we’re dedicated to making sure everyone has an unforgettable experience. Entertainment and Concessions
warm up on those chilly winter days
After cutting your tree, warm up with us and have lunch in the Big Barn. Our kitchen is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day after Thanksgiving. Our menu includes hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, popcorn, donuts, homemade cookies, beverages and more.
We also offer entertainment by local area talent at Matthes Tree Farm. We feature many school and church choirs, barbershop quartets, clogging, area dance troupes and more. Watch for updates on our Facebook page for times and dates.
Christmas Shop
Get into the festive spirit
Our Christmas shop is open every weekend with plenty to offer. Each week, we make fresh wreaths and roping. We offer wreaths in various sizes and decorations. Roping is available in 20, 30 and 50-foot lengths made from white pine and mixed variety.
We also have many unique gifts that are sure to brighten any holiday event, including soaps, dips, canned goods, Matthes Tree Farm apparel, home décor, and more.
See Santa
A complete christmas experience
Santa visits on Saturdays and Sundays. His time with us is from noon until all the kids are gone, typically 5:00 pm. We will gladly take a picture of your children with Santa and have a print ready before you leave!
Wreaths
Stop by our wreath-designing station
We offer a wide range of wreaths to choose from with many different sizes and designs. You can choose from our selection of pre-designed wreaths or you can customize it on the spot, choosing from our selection of bows, berries, pine cones, ornaments, and more. Option to customize is open weekends from 10am-4pm.
Hay-Rides and Bonfires
Hop On our festive rides
And what’s a trip to the farm without a hayride and bonfire? Hop on one of our festive hayrides that will take you around the farm and through our beautifully lit Christmas tree fields. Warm up by the bonfire, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the beauty of the winter season.
Petting Zoo

And for those animal lovers, our petting zoo is always a hit with both children and adults. You’ll be able to get up close and personal with some of the most adorable animals, including sheep, goats, rabbits, and cows to name just a few. Pony rides are also available on the weekends (weather permitting).
